St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Monmouth - About Us
About Us
St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Monmouth is a small friendly parish, with just over 200 parishioners. The Church itself is situated next door to the Presbytery, at 26, St. Mary Street.
The parish has a fascinating history, as the oldest part of the Church was built as a chapel in 1793 and is the oldest post-Reformation public place of worship in Wales.
In addition, we are extremely privileged that St. John Kemble, one of the forty martyrs, is buried within the parish, at the Anglican churchyard, Welsh Newton.
Sunday Mass is normally celebrated on Saturday evening, at 6:00 p.m., and at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday morning. The Parish Priest is Father Nicholas James, whom we share with St. Mary and St. Michael, Llanarth, where Sunday Mass is normally at 11:00 am. Times of services during the week may vary, so please click here for full details of this week's services.
